Introduction

Are you curious whether enabling Ezoic's caching app will interfere with your existing caching rules? This article will clarify how Ezoic's caching app interacts with your current setup and guide you through the steps to override existing caching rules if needed. By following the instructions provided, you can make an informed decision on optimizing your site's performance using Ezoic's caching features. Let's get started!

Overview

When Ezoic's caching app is turned on, it does not replace any existing caching. Ezoic's caching app will work alongside any third-party caching you have enabled. However, in almost all cases, it’s advisable to only have one primary caching system enabled.

If you’re using Ezoic, it should handle edge caching for global performance, so you typically don’t need an additional caching plugin or server-level cache. However, you can use lightweight caching at the origin for things Ezoic doesn’t cover (like database query or object caching. The key is to avoid duplicated processing.

Tips and Best Practices

If continuing to run a third-party cache alongside Ezoic's, you may find that Ezoic's caching does not override current caching rules by default, which can lead to a low cache 'hit' rate and a slower site. If you would prefer Ezoic to override the caching rules at the origin, please head to https://pubdash.ezoic.com/settings/caching and select 'Edit' next to 'Override Cache Control Headers' under the 'Advanced Settings' tab. Set this to 'ON' and hit 'Save'.
