Introduction

Adaptive Sizing is an intelligent ad-serving feature that allows Ezoic’s AI to determine the most profitable way to fill a single ad placeholder. Instead of being limited to one large ad creative, Adaptive Sizing can choose to display multiple smaller creatives within that same space. This ensures that every pixel of your ad inventory is working to maximize your EPMV (Earnings Per Thousand Visitors) while maintaining a clean site layout.

Overview

Adaptive Sizing is a setting found when creating or editing placeholders in the Ezoic dashboard or via the Chrome Extension. It uses machine learning to analyze the available space and advertiser demand in real-time.

How it Works:

  • Pixel Efficiency: If two smaller ads (e.g., two 300x250 units) have a higher combined bid than one large ad (e.g., a single 300x600 unit), the system will serve the two smaller creatives.

  • Layout Consistency: The total area used by the multiple creatives will never exceed the original dimensions of the placeholder, preventing layout shifts or "broken" designs.

  • Dynamic Testing: The AI constantly evaluates which configuration leads to better user engagement and higher returns, adjusting automatically for every unique visitor session.

FAQs

Does Adaptive Sizing count as "more ads" on my page?

Technically, yes, it can increase the count of ad creatives. However, it does not increase the physical space occupied by ads. It simply fills existing space more efficiently.

Can I turn this off for specific placeholders?

Yes. If you have a specific area where you only want one large banner (like a leaderboard), you can disable Adaptive Sizing for that specific placeholder in the "Settings" tab of that unit.

How can I measure performance for Adaptive Sizing?

You can view the performance in Yield > Ad Size report.
