Introduction

Ezoic’s AI is designed to test thousands of variables to find the best ad layouts for your visitors. Optimization Goals act as the primary "instruction set" for this AI, allowing you to prioritize either a cleaner user experience, maximum revenue, or a balance of both. Regardless of your integration type, these settings serve as the foundation for how Ezoic interacts with your audience.

What are the available Optimization Goals and how can I change them?

You can manage your site’s priorities by navigating to EzoicAds > Optimization Goals. The AI uses these goals to determine the frequency, size, and placement of ads based on historical advertiser data and real-time user engagement.

Available Goals:

  • Balanced (Default): This is the recommended setting for most publishers. It aims to maximize revenue while maintaining healthy user experience metrics like Page Engaged Time and Bounce Rate.

  • Revenue Focused: Prioritizes high-value ad placements and higher ad density. This is ideal for high-traffic periods where maximizing immediate yield is the primary objective.

  • User Experience Focused: Instructs the AI to favor ad layouts that promote higher engagement and longer session durations, often resulting in fewer or less intrusive ads.

  • Custom: Allows you to manually define specific metrics or targets to achieve a unique result tailored to your site’s specific business model.

Tips and Best Practices

Start with Balanced:

For the first 30 days of using Ezoic, keep your goal set to Balanced. This allows the AI to gather baseline data on both revenue and UX before you make more aggressive adjustments.

Seasonal Adjustments:

Consider switching to Revenue Focused during peak advertising periods, such as Q4 (Black Friday through December) or during high-traffic events specific to your niche (e.g., a sports site during a major tournament).

Monitor UX Metrics:

If you choose Revenue Focused, keep a close eye on your Big Data Analytics for any sharp increases in Bounce Rate. If user retention drops significantly, the long-term revenue loss may outweigh the short-term gains.

Be Patient with Changes:

When you switch goals, Ezoic’s AI needs time to recalibrate. Avoid changing your goal more than once every two weeks to ensure the system has enough data to show accurate results.
