Introduction

Eligible creators can link or create a Google Ad Manager (GAM) account with Open.Video to monetize their sites using the Open.Video player. This setup gives access to video ad demand from Google and other sources, with Open.Video managing the inventory.

This guide covers how to connect your Google Ad Manager account and the Ad Manager review process, both necessary for Open.Video to manage your inventory. Ensure you have already set up Open.Video sellers on your ads.txt file as a prerequisite to connecting your Google Ad Manager.

Instructions

If your website is eligible for Ad Manager, you will see the Connect to Google modal under the 'Monetization Settings' tab in your Open.Video account. Please note, you must add Open.Video seller entries to your ads.txt file before connecting to Google.

1.Go through the questions in the modal to determine the required information for your Google Ad Manager MCM invite

"I already have a Google Ad Manager account." > you will enter the corresponding email address and network code.

"I don't have a Google Ad Manager account, but I have AdSense." > you will enter your Google AdSense email address.

"I don't know what any of this means, or I don't have either." > That's okay! You can use any email you want to get set up.

2. Click Send Invite. When you receive the email from Google, follow the instructions in the email to either link your existing Ad Manager account to Open.Video or create a new account. New accounts are typically approved within 24 hours. Updates to your account status will be shown in your Open.Video Dashboard.

3. Once your Google Ad Manager account is approved, your domain(s) will be sent to Google for review. The review for domains can take anywhere from a couple of hours to 14 days.

4. Once your domain is approved, you will see the modal update, and Open.Video will be able to manage your inventory. We will also send you an email when this happens.

Troubleshooting

In some instances, a creator may not be able to properly send themselves the Ad Manager invite within the Open.Video Dashboard. Below are a few examples and ways to resolve these issues:

  • Connect to Google modal is locked - If you have not added the Open.Video resellers to your ads.txt file, the modal will not be available to you. Please complete the ads.txt setup process in order to proceed with the Google Ad Manager MCM setup.

  • Sending invite returns an error - If you receive an error when trying to input your email address and network code into the modal, it typically means there is already an invite tied to your email address or network code, or the network code is invalid. Double-check that you have entered the correct network code. If issues persist, contact us through your Open.Video Dashboard.

  • Ad Manager account disapproved - Google will send an email with information on the disapproval reason. If it’s due to a duplicate account, there will be steps to connect the correct account. If you are in bad standing with Google, this is an issue that cannot be resolved and you won't be able to monetize your site with Open.Video.

  • Ad Manager domain disapproved - If Google disapproves your domain, they will provide information on why this happened.

If you aren’t sure if you have an Ad Manager account, you can click here and hit the Sign In button. Enter your email address and click ‘Forgot Password’.
